As a member of the Wicomico County Board of Education my commitment to serving our community has been an incredibly rewarding journey over the past year. Reflecting on this period, I wanted to provide insight into how I dedicated my time to various responsibilities and engagements. The accompanying pie chart illustrates a breakdown of the hours invested in different areas:

Board Meetings: 124 hours (13%) - These meetings served as crucial platforms for decision-making, policy formulation, and collaborative discussions with fellow board members to enhance our educational system.
Policy Writing & Research: 210 hours (22%) - A substantial portion of my time was dedicated to research and the development of policies aimed at fostering a conducive learning environment for our students and educators.
Communications: 375 hours (40%) - Effective communication forms the backbone of my role, involving correspondence with stakeholders, responding to inquiries, and staying connected with the community's needs.
School Events: 70 hours (7%) - Attending and participating in school-related events allowed me to engage directly with students, teachers, and parents, understanding the pulse of our educational institutions.
Committee Meetings: 30 hours (3%) - Collaborating within committees to address specific educational aspects and challenges was pivotal in driving constructive changes within our educational framework.
Trainings / Conferences: 40 hours (4%) - Continuous learning and professional development through attending the Maryland Association of Boards of Education conference and specialized training sessions helped in staying updated with evolving educational practices.
Community Outreach: 27 hours (3%) - Engaging with the community beyond school boundaries, fostering partnerships, and understanding diverse perspectives for holistic educational growth.
Throughout the year, I also allocated time to other essential facets such as athletic events, staff and leadership meetings, student interactions, and one-on-one sessions with the superintendent, and faith-based partnerships. Each segment represents a commitment to ensuring an inclusive and enriching educational experience for every individual within our county.
This breakdown is a testament to the diverse and multifaceted nature of serving on the board of education. I remain committed to advancing educational initiatives, fostering community engagement, and continuously striving for the betterment of our educational landscape in the coming years.
